Steve Scott is the former American record holder in the mile with a time of 3:47.69 and is a member of the USA Track and Field Hall of Fame. During his long career, Steve ran 136 sub-4-minute miles, a record that still stands.  He was the silver medalist at the inaugural IAAF World Championships of Track and Field, set the still-standing American 2000m indoor record, and was a three-time Olympian. Steve currently is the cross country and track coach at California State University San Marcos.

Steve Scott talks about his memories about and the benefits of running the mile. 

Mark Belger set the American high school record for 880 yards, then went on to fame at Villanova, where he set the record for winning Penn Relays golden watches with ten undefeated competitions.  During this time, he was NCAA Champion in the 800m with a personal best of 1:45.81.  Mark also holds a mile personal best of 3:58.4.  Mark was an Olympian in 1980 and raced internationally for several years.  Mark is now a senior software engineer at Leidos (formerly SAIC) in San Diego.

Milena Glusac was a standout high school runner while attending Fallbrook High.  During her high school career, she finished second in the Footlocker High School National Cross Country Championship and ran a 4:53 mile.  While at the University of Oregon, Milena finished on the podium in Pac-10 championships and ran a 15:52 5000m.  Following college, Milena won the U.S. half-marathon, 20 km, and 25 km road championships.  Milena holds personal records of 1:11:34 and 2:31:14 in the half and full marathon.

Paul Greer  is a sub-4-minute miler and local running fixture in San Diego.
